Day 1 of our vacation! Also called our second honeymoon. We are in Medicine Hat Alberta, plum tuckered out! I didn't get many photos today, but I'm sure tomorrow will be great! We should be at Canmore early, then start exploring Banff. So check back daily to see what we saw!
I don't know what this structure is in Medicine Hat, maybe I'll check it out in the morning.
We saw not ONE single gopher from Souris to Swift Current!! It was warm and sunny to boot! Mystery...maybe all the water? We started seeing antelope, often, after that!
Well, like I said, we're too pooped to poop, so a little TV now, then a whole lot of bed!!

We went about 860 kms yesterday (June 5th). Today we are thinking about detouring to Drumheller before going to Banff. The dinosaur museum and displays look interesting. After the hotel free breakfast we'll be orf!
the top photo is a tepee, which was moved to medicicne Hat from Calgary, where it built for the 1988 winter Olympics. it is called the Saamis Tepee. It is based on a Blackfoot legend at least 500 years old. The structure has a 800 metric ton base, and 200 ton structure. It is 215 feet high, and a diameter of 160 feet!
update:
We just found it takes 3 hours to Drumheller from here, which would add at least 6 hours driving time today. So we think we will proceed to Banff, and Canmore. we still have that monster city of Calgary to cross!
